Institutional Review Board
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is in place to ensure that human subjects involved in research are adequately protected and that the institution remains in compliance with the regulation. Prior to the initiation of any research efforts that involve human subjects the IRB review is required.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) supervises all research using laboratory animals. Individuals applying for external research support must have an approved protocol before their projects begin.

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) insures that research involving recombinant DNA and Biological Materials follow designated guidelines. The IBC follows the guidelines established by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Biotechnology Activities and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Radiation Safety
The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has established the radiation safety committee (RSC) to ensure the safety of faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public from unnecessary exposures to ionizing radiation. In addition the RSC is responsible for establishing, reviewing and approving policies and procedures involving the procurement, use, and storage, and disposal of radioactive materials and radiation-producing devices.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) is a comprehensive and integrated system-wide program designed to ensure that research meets ethical and professional standards and is conducted in compliance with relevant state and federal regulations.
